COLE ALLEN
Ol' Cur Dog
He’s an old cur dog with his nose to the ground
Out looking for something that he ain’t found
She’s yelling his name, but he don’t hear a sound
Just an old cur dog with his nose to the ground
It’s nothing she hasn’t seen before
She gives him space, lets him explore
‘Cuz it won’t be long, he’ll be pawing at the back door
It’s nothing she hasn’t seen before
That’s what you get, when you love a cur
I know it’s hard, it’s hard on her
She’ll keep chasing him, the rest of his days
Because she loves him, despite his cur dog ways
He was a mangy young pup when she took him in
He was hungry and lost and looking for a friend
He was running when she found him, he’ll be running again
Just a mangy young pup when she took him in
He’s older now and a little past his prime
Still never met a fence he couldn’t climb
He keeps on proving it, time after time
Though he’s older now and a little past his prime
You can’t fence in an old cur
I know it’s hard, it’s hard on her
She’ll keep chasing him, the rest of his days
Because she loves him, despite his cur dog ways
You can’t change an old cur
The boots in the yard, they belong to her
She’ll keep scolding him, the rest of his days
Because she loves him, despite his cur dog ways
He’s an old cur dog with his nose to the ground
Out looking for something that he ain’t found
She’s yelling his name, but he don’t hear a sound
Just an old cur dog with his nose to the ground
